Create an experiment

sf new my-grpo --method nemo-rl/grpo

Creates experiments/my-grpo/ with three files:

config.yaml	The method template, with the keys people usually change at the top
README.md	Your notes on this experiment
recipe.lock.json	The exact recipe and framework version this experiment is pinned to

Then edit config.yaml and run sf validate.

Fork an existing experiment

sf new my-grpo-v2 --from my-grpo

Copies the config and the lock. --method is ignored when --from is given — the fork keeps the original’s method by definition.

Pin a framework version

sf new my-verl --method verl/grpo --framework-version 0.9.0

Must be a version the catalog publishes for that method. sf methods lists them.

sf new <NAME> [options]

Argument	Description
NAME	Experiment name (required)

Option	Description
--from	Fork an existing experiment
--method, -m	Method identifier <framework>/<method>; defaults to nemo-rl/grpo, run sf methods for the full list (default nemo-rl/grpo)
--framework-version	Exact framework version; must be a version published in the recipe catalog
